1. Who we are

MONEY MAP is a personal-finance planning application. This policy applies to the MONEY MAP website and application.

2. Customer data ownership

You own your financial planning data. Income, expenses, budgets, goals, plans and notes you enter belong to you. MONEY MAP does not claim ownership of your financial information and does not sell personal financial information to advertisers or third parties.

We process your information only for the limited purposes necessary to provide the service: storing and displaying it, calculating budgets and plans, generating reports and insights, providing support, maintaining security, preventing fraud and abuse, and maintaining and improving the service where legally permitted.

3. Personal information we collect

Account data: name, email address, authentication details.

Financial planning data: income sources, expenses, commitments, budgets, savings goals, monthly records and notes you enter.

Usage data: limited product analytics (e.g. that an income source was added) — we do not send individual financial amounts to analytics.

Technical data: IP address, device/browser type and session information necessary to operate and secure the service.

4. Why we collect it & how we use it

To create and manage your account, calculate your money map, generate reports and insights, secure the service, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

5. Lawful basis & purpose

We process personal information for the purposes set out above. Where consent is the applicable basis, you may withdraw it. Where processing is necessary to perform our contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, those bases apply accordingly.

6. Data minimisation & accuracy

We collect only information necessary to provide the service. You can update your profile information at any time, and we rely on you to keep your financial entries accurate.

7. Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational controls: secure authentication, row-level user-data isolation, server-side authorisation, encryption, secure sessions, least-privilege database access, access logging, monitoring and secure backups. One user cannot access another user's financial information through the application.

8. Access controls

Access to your financial data is restricted to your account. Administrative access is limited and monitored. Our service-role backend functions process data only to deliver the service.

9. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your financial data or your entire account at any time from Settings. Some information may be retained where required for legitimate legal, security, accounting or other lawful purposes.

10. Third-party operators & service providers

We use trusted third-party providers necessary to operate the platform: hosting/cloud, database, authentication, payment, email and analytics providers. We aim to treat them as operators/service providers under appropriate contractual and security controls. We do not sell your data to these providers.

11. International transfers

MONEY MAP is a global service. Your information may be processed or stored in countries other than your own where necessary to operate the service. Where data protection laws apply to cross-border transfers, we aim to implement appropriate safeguards and disclosures. We do not make unsupported claims about specific countries or adequacy decisions.

12. Data protection compliance

We process personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws, which may include South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), the EU/UK GDPR, and similar laws in your country. This policy sets out the categories of personal information, the purposes of processing, your data-subject rights and how to contact us. We do not claim blanket compliance under any single law without qualification.

13. Your data-subject rights

You may request access to your personal information, correction, deletion (where applicable), and object to processing where applicable. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it. You can also export your financial planning data from Settings.

14. How to exercise your rights

Email privacy@moneymap.app to request access, correction or deletion, or to object to processing or withdraw consent. We will respond within a reasonable time and may verify your identity.

15. Privacy complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, contact us at privacy@moneymap.app. We will investigate and respond. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (such as the Information Regulator in South Africa or your national supervisory authority) if you remain dissatisfied.

16. Cookies

We use only essential and preference cookies necessary to operate the service. See our Cookie Policy for details.

17. Children

MONEY MAP is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated where legally required. The version and effective date above show the current policy.
